And for the full Saturday Night Out Krater Comedy Club ticket holders on Saturday gain FREE ENTRY, without a queue to the sell-out club night Motorcity.

Andy Askins: Andy Askins is a diminutive figure who exudes an air of vulnerability as he steps up to the microphone armed with a guitar and a cheeky grin. It’s an overwhelmingly misleading demeanour which serves to heighten the impact of the killer lines that he delivers.

Joel Dommett: Joel came onto the comedy scene in 2007 and has never looked back. After receiving great critical acclaim for his Edinburgh Fringe shows, he has gone on to appear in numerous television shows including; Impractical Jokers (BBC3), Reality Bites (ITV2), Russell Howard's Good News (BBC),and most recently, I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here

Stephen Grant: Along with his clutch of awards and critical acclaim, Stephen Grant must surely have right to the title of hardest working comedian in the UK. Regular compere of Krater Comedy Club at Komedia Brighton (our sister venue!) Stephen still finds the time to gig all over the country as well as appearing on BBC Radio

Laura Lexx: Comedian, actress and writer Laura Lexx is a uniquely gleeful performer who indulges her audience in an unrelenting childish attention.

Surely the finest musical interlude in the history of the Comedy Festival - the Scottish duo whose musical genius and depth of inspiration in the folk tradition has brought them international acclaim and national recognition ranging from BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards for Lifetime Achievement and Best Duo to an MBE each for services to music.

Having toured together since 1986 to packed concert halls all over the world, these two scintillating instrumentalists are also renowned for punctuating their concerts with their irreverent off-the-cuff wit and hilarious storytelling.

Shetlander ALY BAIN is the best known and most significant fiddle player in the Celtic tradition. He is rightly regarded as Scotland's supreme fiddler - arguably the finest of all time. A founder member of the quintessential folk group Boys of the Lough, Aly has toured extensively in America, Europe and the UK and worked with such luminaries as Eddi Reader and Richard Thompson.

Accordion player PHIL CUNNINGHAM has been named as one of Scotland’s 25 most influential people and his mastery of the instrument has led to him working with the likes of Mark Knopfler, James Taylor and Rosanne Cash.

Both Phil and Aly have written and presented music on film and TV, including their leading roles in the BBC’s Transatlantic Sessions. Together they represent the pinnacle of musical achievement in the great folk tradition.

"They are simply the best traditional musicians you are ever likely to hear" - The Glasgow Herald

Next Stage Theatre Company - My Brilliant Divorce

Date: Tuesday 4th April, 2017
Venue: The Mission Theatre
Doors: 7.10pm for 7.30pm show
Duration: 90mins
Price: £12 / £10 concs (see below *)

"Guy Fawkes Night, Max arrived home from a tax-planning seminar in Orlando and started packing instead of unpacking. "I’m very sorry", he said "we only pass this way once and our marriage has been emotionally dead for many years." And then he was gone. Well. After a life time of faithfulness and devotion can you imagine how I felt? Sheer joy!" (Angela Act 1)

Angela's husband has a mid-life crisis and a mid-European fling, Angela is left with the dog.
Initially exultant, Angela soon finds herself emotionally bereft and with her self-confidence at an all-time low. Rejecting or accepting the well-meaning advice and consolation of friends, interfering mother, critical daughter and silently-accusing dog, Angela slowly, and at times painfully, rebuilds her life.

During the course of a hilarious 90 minutes, Geraldine Aron takes her audience with wit and assurance through Angela’s excursions into mid-life dating, her attempts at reinvention and her misfortunes with some highly unsuitable liaisons.

An insightful exploration of what life can be like for a 40-something, suddenly single woman, My Brilliant Divorce is wittily observant, achingly funny and heart-wrenchingly real.

Geraldine Aron's play is brought to The Mission Theatre by the talented Kay Francksen, who has performed to sell-out audiences in Bath and Bristol with her one-woman show Shirley Valentine.

Kay first played Angela in My Brilliant Divorce in 2006 and received rave reviews:

"Kay Franklin’s extraordinarily powerful performance..."

"beautifully observed exposition…"

"it’s done with such humour - an asset that Kay exploits superbly...fantastic value..." - The Bath Chronicle

Critics have said of the play:

"Mixing vaudevillian solo-turn and vicarious soul-baring, ‘My Brilliant Divorce’ offers an enjoyable evening of stand-up tragedy" - Guardian.

"There are some great jokes…but there are also sudden shafts of piercing emotional truth… A peculiarly frosty heart is required to resist ‘My Brilliant Divorce" - Daily Telegraph

"Gorgeous stuff…a kind of midlife Alice in Wonderland" - Times (London)

The Incredible Joz Norris Locks Himself Inside His Own Show, Then Escapes, Against All The Odds.

Cult comedy idiot Joz Norris (Weirdos, ACMS, Comedians' Cinema Club, ITV, ITV2, Dave, Channel 4, E4, BBC Radio 4, BBC Radio 4 Extra) returns to Bath Comedy Festival with a brand new solo show of comedy, storytelling, nonsense, music, feelings, thoughts, and conceptual theatre musings.

This year he's become obsessed with the ouroboros, and with the Elephant Man. Seems to him that performing is a way of totally cutting yourself off from everybody around you by making sure they're all looking at you, and that seems unusual. So it's back to a bunch of formative stories about his mum and his dad and some herons and some sandwiches to try and make sense of how he got to this point. This is his fifth solo comedy show, which have played at comedy and arts festivals nationwide and internationally.

"An absolute idiot...Simple, silly and screamingly funny" - Fest

"A born entertainer and a great comedy writer" - Chortle

"A potentially massive future comedy star" - The Herald

"Fastidiously avoids boring or obvious choices and excels at being unselfconsciously daft" - TV Bomb

Venue: Komedia
Doors: for 8.00pm show
Price: £14 - £25 (see listing)

Performed on stage in classic radio comedy style with music and sound effects, The OFFSTAGE Theatre Group recreates the anarchic and deliciously surreal cult comedy show that laid waste to BBC Radio in the 60s and 70s.

A Greatest Hits compilation of original material by Graeme Garden and Bill Oddie, this knockabout show celebrates the radio series that gave birth to The Goodies and Monty Python’s Flying Circus – not to mention I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue. We’ve got BBC Radio 4's Mitch Benn joining us, as well as original I'm Sorry I'll Read That Again cast member Jo Kendall.

Stand by for wicked parodies, glorious puns and manic songs. It’s full-frontal radio, live on stage – with the unmistakable strains of the Angus Prune Tune and the unavoidable smells of the Rhubarb Tart of Omar Khayyam.

Duration: 2hrs

An evening with the legendary broadcaster and foreign correspondent.

Andy's one-man show has become a hugely successful highlight of many literary festivals - including a sold-out appearance at Hay on Wye - and a popular draw at theatres and arts centres around the UK.

Fascinating and often hilarious, the two hour audio-visual presentation treats the audience to recollections from a life spent on the front lines of rock & roll, and on the front lines of some of the world's most extreme and dangerous countries.

"The finest British broadcaster bar none. A real broadcast journalist, a real achiever, a real someone, an amazing man" - Stephen Fry

"A national treasure and born again hero" - Daily Telegraph

"Andy Kershaw is such an enthusiast. He made me travel a little further than I normally do. He has an ability to do things first and ask questions afterwards. Not a recipe for a safe, secure life, maybe, but it makes things a lot more interesting for the rest of us" - Michael Palin

"It's his ability to convey a sense of moment-by-moment aliveness that makes Andy Kershaw the greatest living English-language broadcaster" - Toby Litt

"Kershaw has had one hell of a life...strange and comic" - The Independent on Sunday

"His radio appearances have become rare. He's an intermittent eruption, making everything before and after sound as if it were made by zombies" - New Statesman

Next Stage Theatre Company - My Brilliant Divorce

Date: Saturday 8th April, 2017
Venue: Widcombe Social Club
Doors: 5.30pm for 6.00pm show
Duration: 1hr
Price: £10

Not merely a reflection on how to portray this lady but a live audience with Margaret Thatcher. Pip Utton IS The ‘Iron Lady’!

Saviour or witch? Love her or hate her? Not for Pip to decide, only to portray. She divided the nation like no other politician, she changed the face of British, perhaps world politics forever and the effects of her influence and policies are still felt today. Listen to her philosophies, her inspiration and her logic, and then take the chance to question her.

Pip Utton is a Fringe legend and is known throughout the world for his spellbinding portrayals of Adolf, Churchill, Dickens, Casanova, Chaplin, Hancock and many others. 'Maggie' is probably Pip's greatest challenge yet. Pip not only becomes Margaret Thatcher but risks taking audience questions, and answering them as Maggie!

Next Stage Theatre Company - My Brilliant Divorce

The play runs from 4th - 8th April

Host of BBC Radio 4's Goes to Market and star of BBC1’s Live at the Apollo, Simon Evans has been immersing himself in economics for the last couple of years, like a pig immersing itself in organic cleansing elements.

He has unpicked why the French don't want to own their own home (sex, obvs), why mass spectrometers reveal Americans to literally be made of corn, and why Alco-Synth - the effects of alcohol but with an effective antidote - is not likely to be appearing at a wine bar near you in the near future, despite having been invented years ago. As usual the whole thing deteriorates swiftly into a heartfelt rant about his children but these are at least the lofty aspirations he starts with this time.

As Bill Clinton said - "It's the Economy, Stupid!" Though he also said, "For Christ's sake Monica, I'll never get it to light now." So what does he know?

Some people talk the talk but don't walk the walk; comedian Eleanor Conway puts her money where her mouth is. Her debut stand up show premiered at last year's Edinburgh Fringe to critical acclaim, and comes to Bath as part of a nationwide tour.

Ferocious clubber and party girl Eleanor Conway has always been a woman of extremes; she partied around the world as a music journalist, ran off to Asia to work for the triads, made hardcore porn and Tinder'd her way through most of London...Now sober from alcohol and substances she's failing to find moderation and meaning. "Walk of Shame" is about sex, sobriety, Sambuca and the modern addict that lies within us all.

Eleanor is a Comedy Store King Gong finalist and has been performing standup since 2014. An experienced music presenter, MC and host, she can regularly be seen crowd surfing in a corset at some of the UK's biggest festivals including several stints hosting the William's Green Stage at Glastonbury Festival in front of thousands of revellers.

Maisie Adam - Living on the Edge

Doors: 8.30pm for 9.00pm show
Duration: 1hr
Price: £5

Following a successful and sold-out preview show at the Ilkley Literature Festival, and now on a nationwide festival tour, “Living on the Edge” is the new stand up show from comedian Maisie Adam.

The show's eclectic mix of anecdotal and observational material is relatable, laughable and all taken from personal experiences of being a young Yorkshire lass attempting to "adult" in the big wide world. Exploring a variety of topics from the classic faux pas of the Brit abroad and the bizarre rituals of the playground, to the fascinating spectacle that is Theresa May's body posture, 'Living on the Edge' leaves its audience belly laughing, giving standing ovations, throwing roses onstage, naming their babies after Maisie, but most importantly, it's a show that doesn't exaggerate...

"Maisie's stories are really well observed, with a warmth rather than a criticism of the folk she bumps into. Her self-deprecation is charmingly funny" – Otley Women Together

IlluminArchie* is the hilarious new show by living-legend, "super cool, super smart storyteller" (Bruce Dessau, Evening Standard) Award winning comedian, Archie Maddocks. In the past, he's been described as "poignant, inventive and razor-sharp" (Broadway Baby) and having "a corking, almost cinematic story" (Chortle).

Join Archie for his new show, which looks at, but is not limited to: how he wishes someone would take control of his life so he didn't have to, his hope that there's a secret society controlling his future, an accidentally racist girlfriend, a killer doughnut and an incident with a monkey.

*Facts about IlluminArchie -
1: When he was born, the nurse slapped herself and thanked him.
2: He can hear colours, orange pisses him off and don’t even start on purple.
3: He once farted with such power that it started the infamous East Anglian earthquake of 2007.
4: Darkness is afraid of him.
5: IlluminArchie doesn't walk, the Earth moves beneath him.

** None of these are true. This is why someone should take control of his life.

Maisie Adam - Living on the Edge

Bilal Zafar - Cakes

Duration: 1.5hrs incl interval
Price: £10 / £8 concs (see below *)

Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee 2016 and New Act of the Year award winner Bilal brings us his highly anticipated debut show Cakes.

Join Bilal as he takes you on a fascinating and hilarious journey of how his Twitter handle, @zafarcakes, became a focal point for the misguided rage of the global far right when it was mistaken for the account of a Muslim-only bakery. Having provoked the outrage of such defenders of Britishness as Katie Hopkins, EDL supporters and the Daily Star, Cakes shows how Bilal used humour to respond to the prejudice and abuse increasingly faced by British Muslims today.

"Witty and absorbing…highly entertaining. I look forward to whatever Zafar cooks up next" - Dominic Maxwell, The Times

"Delivers some big laughs" - Brian Logan, The Guardian

"Zafar really delivers on the absurdity of an escalating social media farce running in parallel with growing prejudice and tensions, joyously exposing the stupidity on all sides" **** Ben Venables, The Skinny

"Endearing, relaxed and naturally funny...hilarious" **** Emily Phillips, EdFest Mag

STOP PRESS: Bonus! Bilal will now be doing a longer performance starting with an extra short set of work in progress material followed by the hour show after an interval

Elf Lyons is doing a one woman production of swan lake. In an hour. In French. Probably. Elf hasn't made up her mind yet. Elf originally asked her siblings to be in it so they could bond but they said they were "too busy" because they are "Doctors" and have "proper jobs". So Elf has found two fire extinguishers to replace them.

A new show from one of British Vogue's Top Twenty Names of Now.

Last year's preview show from the L’Ecole Philippe Gaulier graduate and Feminist Times' One To Watch became an instant hit in Bath.

"A finely balanced, thought-provoking, and hugely enjoyable comic talent" **** TheatreBath

"Endearingly eccentric on so many levels" - Fest Magazine

"A gleefully messy hour" - The List

"Enthusiastically peculiar...endearingly eccentric...her strangeness, her vulnerabilities and her sass make a pretty engaging package...showing sexy, nerdy and funny aren't mutually incompatible" - Steve Bennett, Chortle

Contains songs (not rubbish) and talking down to adults. Bring one, if you can find one. No magic, no heartwarming life lessons. No processed sugar, but no tree-hugging hippy druid crap, either.

Neil imposes himself on the good and true denizens of Bath yet again, with what promises to be very much a work in progress, assuming there's been some. It's not an Edinburgh preview because after last year he can't afford to go back yet, plus there's the court order to think about.

So this show will be about whatever joyous and exciting new thoughts have crept into his troubled bonce during the wee hours in those long dark nights of the soul. Whatever they might prove to be. Who knows? As yet, he doesn't. Place your bets and come along to see if you're right.

Same deal as last year - and the year before; he will be saying stuff he thinks is funny and you can chuck some money in the bucket at the end if you agree with him. Pets welcome, but only if they're sedated.

Actually, it might be about trains.

Venue: Widcombe Social Club
Doors: 7.30pm for 8.00pm show
Duration: 1hr40mins incl interval

SOLD OUT

The day before the presidential election Leonard Cohen finally fell silent.

Arthur and the gifted and glamourous Smithereens revisit the acclaimed show they brought to Bath in 2015 to say so long to Leonard - with a couple of new Leonard songs, laughs and reflections.

The show reflects on despair, decline and dementia yet succeeds in being hilarious, joyous and life-affirming. Smith, playwright, grumpy old man, 'Radio 4's bit of rough' and stand-up comic, is enhanced by the fabulous Smithereens, a trio of unbeatably melodious and glamourous singer/musicians to produce an evening you will never forget.

"Here I am in Edinburgh to find the best in up-and-coming comedy talent. But in all my trawling so far, the best work I've seen is not only by a 58-year-old Fringe legend, it's also the follow-up to a show he first did here 13 years ago..." - The Times

"Touching, uplifting and very funny" ****Evening Standard

"Smith's revelatory blend of dark, poignant music and dark, poignant comedy" **** Fest Mag

It's been a morbid time for "the country's leading musical satirist" (The Times); he's turned 46 - over the hill by anyone's standards - his personal life is in turmoil, and his childhood heroes are dropping like flies. At times like these, a man feels the Reaper creeping up on him… But is death anything to fear? And is it really the end? (Yes. Yes, it is, sorry!)

Mitch confronts his - and YOUR - mortality with hilarious (and tuneful) consequences. Join him! It's time you're not getting back!

"Intelligent and funny writing both of music and gags... a must see show" - One4Review

"Well crafted, well sung, his songs are just plain funny" - The Guardian

"Song after song of exquisitely crafted satire" - The Scotsman

Mitch has been a regular on BBC Radio 4's Now Show for more than a decade and has presented many radio specials. Following on from the success of Mitch Benn Is The 37th Beatle, a further three specials on music icons Bob Dylan, David Bowie and Elvis have recently been broadcast - The Freewheelin' Mitch Benn, Mitch Benn Is The Fat Pink Duke and Mitch Benn Has Left The Building. He also co-presented with Harry Shearer BBC Radio 2's Anatomy Of A Guitar and presented Spank The Plank for BBC Radio 4. He is currently working on a 40th anniversary special of Derek & Clive, again for BBC Radio 4.

Bath welcomes back the wonderfully talented Jess Robinson, who returned from performing her latest show 'Impressive' with her incredible live band at Edinburgh Fringe with some amazing 5* reviews and another award under her belt.

'Impressive' features well OVER 100 impressions, 99 of which are packed into one 4 minute rap - 'I got 99 voices but a bloke ain't one'. As well as the Kim Kardashians, Nicola Sturgeons and Mary Berrys, Jess treats you to spot on singing impressions from classic vintage stars, such as Judy Garland and an astoundingly uncanny Billie Holiday, to today's global pop divas, including Beyoncé, Paloma Faith and Nicki Minaj, travelling via Kate Bush and a spine-tingling Amy Winehouse.

With her fresh take on mimicry, cheeky wit and sharp stand up, Jess shares her hilariously tragic and heartbreakingly funny adventures during her whirlwind of a year, since leaving her spouse of just 18 months following last year's Edinburgh festival. From joining a gang to joining the circus, to nearly causing a plane to make an unscheduled landing.

So party with Jess, her awesome band and a truckload of celebrities as Robinson celebrates her newfound freedom since divorcing 'Practice Husband'. But now she has her freedom, what should she do with it?

"This show was an absolute delight...I would thoroughly recommend getting a ticket if any are still available" ***** One4Review

"Robinson exceeds expectations, managing to perfectly impersonate both the mannerisms and voices of so many well known women. She delivers side-splitting comedy, mesmerising storytelling, sensational music and a good helping of improv... [Her} fast-paced approach entertains the audience from beginning to end" ***** Edinburgh Festival Magazine

Price: £7

SOLD OUT

"The gruff and rough-voiced Shubaly is a chronicler of mankind's darkest impulses and failures, a guy with a ticket to hell and back" - Time Out New York

After receiving an expensive MFA in Fiction from Columbia University, Mishka Shubaly promptly realised he was more interested in playing music in dive bars than writing. He lived out of a Toyota minivan for a year, touring non-stop, and shared the stage with artists like The Strokes, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and The Decemberists among others.

He's become a cult favorite, opening nationally for comedy iconoclast Doug Stanhope, penning the soundtrack for The Unbookables documentary, headlining the Altercation Punk Comedy Tour, and touring with Pearl Jam fave Star Anna. Adrian Grenier played drums for a new single and Shubaly's most recent record 'Coward's Path' has won praise from Johnny Depp and Joe Perry of Aerosmith, among others.

"We all have heroes. I would never want to imagine Tom Waits going to therapy or Bukowski running a 10k. In my heart, Mishka Shubaly will always be spilled over the bar next to me and playing on the jukebox of my soul" - Doug Stanhope

"Forever a favourite, sublime!" - Johnny Depp

Having had a successful sell-out Scottish Tour in 2016, and ahead of his annual attendance at EdFringe (this will be his 29th), Fred is on the road again around Scotland (with a few trips over Hadrian's Wall) with a stand-up show for 2017.

With so much happening politically at home and abroad, there's no shortage of material for comedians.

Are you worried about the future after Brexit? How do you plan to celebrate the triggering of Article 50? And speaking of 'triggering' could Trump really kick off the war that'll not only end all wars, but the whole freaking planet!

The world is in an awful mess, says Trump. "Donald, start flicking through the channels on your TV mate for f*** sake. It's a beautiful place." Someone should really show him some Attenborough programmes about tiny mammals. FAKE SHREWS!

Fred says "Every comedian worth his salt has Trump material. I'm probably the only comic who has suffered PERSONALLY as a result of his election. Turnberry is one of my favourite courses, but as a small personal protest against Trump's blatant racism and misogyny I've decreed that I'll never play the course again whilst it's under his stewardship!" It's this kind of gesture that will hopefully make Trump think again...!!!

As for Brexit, will it lead to the triggering of Indyref2? The gloves might soon be off with Theresa May and Nicola Sturgeon. The gloves might, but the shoes won't. And they're good shoes aren't they. And as for Kezia Dugdale.....whoever is plucking her eyebrows, PLEASE STOP.

Fred might not have the answers to political questions (or else he would have been on Question Time) but one thing is for sure, after nearly 30 years on stage, he'll have a bloody good laugh about it all. And so will you.

Fred's brand of humour mixes cheek, sarcasm and satire and has entertained people for three decades. If you've seen him before, you know it's good comedy. And for new fans, come and see the man once described as "Scotland's rising star of comedy" and now "Legend".

"One of the best stand-up comedians Britain has ever produced" - Richard Osman, Pointless.

Phil grew up with no money, living in a post-Thatcher mining town in the South Wales valleys. However, by 2017, Pontypridd boasts such luxuries as an outdoor heated swimming pool – funded by the EU. In the face of political uncertainty, Phil’s show explores his own anxieties, his childhood, and the effect of global politics on the future of Wales.

Phil Cooper has been a full-time circuit comedian since 2014, and is a familiar face on the Welsh-language TV channel S4C. This year, he developed an 80-minute solo comedy special for the station, alongside fellow comedians Elis James and Tudur Owen.

Chris Chopping is a man acutely aware of his own failings and enraged at a world that refuses to overlook them.

After learning his comedy craft up and down the country plus a brief foray into Welsh language television (don't ask) he's bringing his debut hour to this years Edinburgh Fringe.

It's a show full of pithy insecurities, impotent rage and a certain amount of erudite smut. He also takes on men's right activists and pick up artists in a show that is a hazmat suit for toxic masculinity.

Abrasive satire for Guardian readers, disguised as sensationalist whimsy for Sun readers so as not to alienate the proletariat.

Mik Artistik's Ego Trip

"The best live band I have seen all summer" ~ BBC 6Music Presenter Gideon Coe

"As mad as a wasp trapped under a pint glass" ~ BBC 6Music Presenter Shaun Keaveny

Glastonbury favourites return with their madcap mix of music, comedy, and straws!

Come along to see what all the fuss is about...and for the uninitiated how would you compare and describe them...simply, you don't...as there is no one else quite like them.

Three very different individuals just doing "what we do", it's a joyous experience which will make you sing, dance, laugh, cry, and very possibly toss drinking straws all over the place!

It's an incredibly daft, joyful, and sometimes poignant affair, as Mik tumbles around the stage, spluttering lyric's, occasionally tripping over leads, and sprinkling the audience with straws, whilst the elegant engine room of Benson Walker & Jonny Flockton hold down the melodies.

The boys draw wild and enthusiastic crowds at all the major festivals they attend, and this summer their white label promo single 'Plastic Fox' was as good as 'Single of the Week' on BBC 6Music after presenter Gideon Coe, who described the band as the "best live act he has seen all summer" chose it as his 'Recommends' track.

Come along and see for yourselves.... you won't be disappointed!

The BelleFleurs

Bath based trio who take songs from Pop, Metal, Rock and Punk, give them a good spanking and make into completely new arrangements. Performing everywhere from Glastonbury to Harvey Nicks, with fairly tight corsets and very tight harmonies, this is no Vintage tribute act. They are slowly re-writing The Andrews Sisters Songbook!

"One of the most arresting, amusing and just plain likeable acts to come out of the subculture of the women's movement since feminist cabaret in 80s London" - Andrew Gibson, Professor of Modern Literature, University of London

"l so loved your performance...look forward to seeing you again hugs x People, go see !!" - Lorraine Chase
