Expect laughter, Venn diagrams, mindfulness, power ballads, ridiculous dancing and a lot more besides.

"What do you want to be when you grow up?" In his mid 30s Luca managed to narrow the possible answers down to a few options: Cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church, Legionnaire in the French Foreign Legion, expert Japanese sword-smith, lecturer in Latin and a call center operator. Eventually, only one of those exciting career paths became true.

In this brand new show, the Italian who was too funny for his own country describes the lives he never had.

A natural storyteller, Luca is ready to entertain you with his gentle, endearing dark humour. There will also be room for improvisation and audience interaction.

Winner of So You Think You're Funny (2015), Luca appeared at the Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal (2016) and has performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival since 2014. He has gigged across Europe (Netherlands, Latvia, Estonia, Finland and Switzerland) and since 2018 he is a regular guest on the Italian TV show Zelig Time.  Luca also recently featured on The Arts Hour Tour (BBC World Service) later this month.

Funny Women Regional Finalist and badly-behaved mother of two, Louise should probably be delousing her kids instead of gallivanting off to Bath to appear in a festival. Nonetheless, here she is.

When she's not removing parasites from her children, Louise somehow finds time to turn in "an impressive performance" (John Hegley) featuring the vagaries of parenting, navigating the choppy seas of middle age and how to shave your legs like you're in an advert. She'll make you laugh until soup comes out of your nose. (If you were already eating soup. If soup comes out of your nose when you haven't been eating soup, you should probably see someone about that, okay?)

Hugely relatable, Louise is “charming, funny and with a natural rapport with the audience.”

All proceeds from this show will go to buying special shampoo and the sachets that get rid of the itchy bum worms.

Doors: 7.15pm for 7.30pm show
Duration: 1hr
Price: £5 or pay what you feel*

Michael Legge, the shouty one from Do The Right Thing, is putting together brand new material for a brand new stand-up comedy show.

Star of Live At The Apollo is a terrible description of him, but if you're the kind of person that likes watching a grown man have a nervous breakdown while he tries to figure out the world, himself, the end of all civilisation and brand new jokes, then this is definitely the show for you. He's bound to be in tears 20 minutes in. It'll be hilarious.

The Idiot is Michael's first show since his highly-rated, sell out Jerk in 2017 and that show nearly killed him, so this one will surely see him off. Come along and say goodbye.

Split Egg: a magic show about being twins

Twin tricksters Kane & Abel perform magic and comedy inspired by clichés surrounding twins. Every question the identical twin brothers have been asked during their life – whether they are harmless, hurtful or just hilarious – have been developed into the narrative of this fun-filled and "seriously impressive" (BBC Radio Bristol) show. They'll prove they know what each other is thinking and feeling and whether they've ever used their similarities to steal each other's girlfriends.

"Like a Morecambe and Wise of magic ... both shine individually as magicians and comedians" **** Broadway Baby

"Will leave you impressed and in stitches" **** ThisIsRadelaide.com.au

"You will certainly leave with a smile on your face" GlamAdelaide.com.au

When Charlie Partridge was a kid, he dreamt of making stupid noises for a living. He was told it couldn't be done... they were right.

Mostly he can be seen bringing his special brand of idiocy to events for the likes of New Scientist, Vice, The Moth, Google, Facebook, Fosters, Bulmers and Red Bull. He has performed in LA, New York, Paris and Preston and has called more bingo shows than reasonable. Also seen/heard on BBC Three, Radio 4 and 6Music.

More recently he has fallen into writing immersive theatre treasure hunt experiences for people so wealthy they have run out of things to do, but pay him to bury their treasure so they can find it again. For real.

And when he's not doing that he is trying to cut it as a beatboxer, starting at the tender age of 33. He's better than you think.

JOZ NORRIS IS DEAD. LONG LIVE MR FRUIT SALAD.
Joz Norris has retired, or possibly died, who knows/cares? All that matters is that Mr Fruit Salad, a fictional chimaera he created as a form of self-care, has developed autonomy and decided to put on a solo show. A sort of absurdist meditation on anxiety and grief performed by an idiot from Pontefract who doesn’t exist. A sell-out at EdFringe 2018. "An absolute idiot...Simple, silly and screamingly funny" - Fest "A comedy legend" – To Do List

SIBLINGS: THE THIRD (WIP)
Character comedians and real life sisters Maddy and Marina Bye are back, physically bigger and mentally smaller than ever before. After two years of sell-out shows they present their third, completely absurd sketch show, but this time... with a twist. Enter the dangerous world of theatre and disaster as two idiot relatives present a full mystery of murder. Who done it? Probably, most likely one of them.. Expect new characters, more drama and a total abandonment of dignity as they take you into the snowy drama of The Headless Arms, the forever freezing manner.

Matt Price - Broken Hooters And Geezers With Shooters

Date: Tuesday 9th April, 2019
Venue: Ring O Bells
Doors: 7.00pm for 7.30pm show
Duration: 1hr
Price: £8

click to book online

Matt Price was asked to work on a writing project with a former criminal. From day one, he was out of his depth...

Matt ("Fearlessly funny" **** The Scotsman) has been to a high profile criminal's funeral and stood outside the church with a biker gang and a 'body guard' who had learning difficulties. He once played monopoly with a Russian drug dealer and was sent an ill fitting stab proof vest and a spoon through the post.

As Steve Bennett from Chortle said, Matt Price is "a genuine, ordinary guy spinning some yarns, extraordinary in their telling" **** On the surface at six foot three and twenty stone, Matt looks as though he may blend into the criminal underworld quite well, until he blows his cover by speaking.

This is a show about learning your limitations and embracing them. It's about facing fears. It's about realising that actually, not being a tough guy isn't such a bad thing after all. Sometimes it's sensible to run away. Some people travel to Nepal or India to try and find themselves. Matt spent hundreds of hours at a retired criminal's house, mixing with people that he never even knew existed.

He doesn't have that many answers as to why people do bad things. But he has a lot of stories and he's learned a lot too.

"I don't understand why he isn't better known" ***** One4Review

Matt Price has been a professional comedian for over ten years and has performed in 30 countries, including 4 tours of Australia. He is a versatile performer who tells a great yarn, usually from the wilder side of life, but one that will make you laugh. He is not a geezer and his hooter remains unbroken.

"Storytelling comedy, necessitates a level of honesty I like. And Price is one of the best at it around" - Scotland on Sunday

Venue: Rondo Theatre

Presented by Berk's Nest in association with Ebdon Management

"Clever, elegantly constructed, and builds to a twist that you really won't see coming" **** Telegraph

Tom's girlfriend has vanished... So he has done what any right-minded man (and "theatre-maker") would do in this situation, and turned his search for her into an "important" piece of "art". Come "witness" it. (Nobody went missing in the creation of this show).

In reality... It's Always Infinity is a narrative-driven character comedy show about toxic masculinity and the questionable role of the male creator, presented by a version of Tom who sees himself as 'one of the good guys' but is anything but. It combines projection, storytelling and character comedy to tell a story where 'Tom' reveals what an awful person he is.

Tom Neenan is the writer of The Mash Report, A Girl's Guide to TV, Mock The Week (BBC2), The Last Leg (Channel 4), Spotlight Tonight, The News Quiz, The Now Show (BBC Radio 4). He's also the writer & star of Tom Neenan's The Hauntening (BBC Radio 4)

"A sharply-scripted character study… an elegant show that builds to a wonderful comic twist" **** Chortle

"I am crying with laughter... painful to watch in the best possible way" - The F Word

Duration: 1hr
Price: £5 or pay what you feel*

An hour of standup and ramblings from Tony Chiotti, a cranky Yank who's recently docked in Bristol. Observations on boat life, stories from his checkered past, and basically, all his favorite (favourite?) bits strung together into one meandering harbour tour of a life unmoored.

I mean we could go on with talk of a theme or a point, but it's jokes, innit. (Is that how you use 'innit'?) It's all his best jokes, in rapid succession. A man's life work, presented humbly and without intermission. Take a punt.

"My favourite act that I saw last year. A wonderfully comeplling stage persona, but also just a ton of great jokes" - Dan Thomas

"Better than I'd feared" - Stu Goldsmith

"Good gear" - Mat Ewins

"A bit off...in a good way" - Harriet Kemsley

"A great addition to the circuit" - Sean McLoughlin

Comedian Simon Caine is going to Edinburgh 2019 with a new show. In order to do that, he needs to try out his new jokes on you, YES you.

In this latest show Simon looks at his relationship with happiness and social media and how they don't work together with "Quick one-liners [that] rub shoulders with more involved material that rewards you paying full attention" (The Wee Review) and "[his] eccentric turns of phrase and paranoid persona is immediately entertaining, and his tales of irrational exaggeration are simultaneously relatable" (Broadway Baby).

"I've come close to winning 4 national comedy awards (semi-finalist), done over 1,200 gigs and toured the UK three times...if you like hilarious storytelling, witty one-liners and structured narrative-led comedy, this is the show for you."

You know what it's like. You were sort of friends when you were young, and then sometime in the 90s, you're both at Uni and you bond over your love of The West Wing, walking and talking your way down life's own Pennsylvania Avenue, the best of friends, until you inevitably fall out over a girl.

So, it's years later, and there's been lives and careers and wives and babies, and attempts at babies, and a hundred things in between. You could decide it's not worth the time, let the past be the past and just think, "What's next?". Or you could ask yourself, what would Aaron Sorkin do?

A play about friendship, life, the terrifying feeling of trying to make sense of it all and how a simple, seemingly insignificant action, can have an effect that reverberates throughout time.

John-Luke Roberts: All I Wanna Do Is [FX: GUNSHOTS] With a [FX: GUN RELOADING] and a [FX: CASH REGISTER] and Perform Some Comedy!

One of the Edinburgh Fringe's most celebrated talents of recent times sets out on his first full national tour.

John-Luke Roberts' show this year was a complete sell-out run and one of the most talked-about shows of the festival: a dizzying avant-garde ride through the mind of a gifted comic-philosopher. One with a blue moustache. Who thinks far more about the Spice Girls than anyone should. A masterclass in prop, clown, costume and Mel C-themed comedy. And that's all we can tell you in the brochure, because his stupid title takes up the rest of the allotted space.

Fast, Fresh & Dirty Comedy

Date: Friday 12th April, 2019
Venue: The Barley Mow
Doors: 8.00pm for 9.00pm show
Duration: 90mins
Price: Free (donations)

Because life is funny! But not actually funny enough to laugh for more than about 90 minutes.

There's a new night out in town. It's a comedy night with some important differences, built around the show's title 'fast, fresh and dirty'.

On Friday 12th April the lineup is:
Joey Cannon
Matthew Alford
Daniel Dagger
Laura Ollerton
and
Headliner Ben Thurston

FAST - Our show is 90 minutes maximum, including a drinks break. We think that comedy nights are too long and we want ours to fit around peoples' busy work, social, and meal times.

FRESH - We showcase fresh talent. That said, in practice, the Barley Mow has been so good at setting us up that we've already attracted pretty big professional names like Olga Koch and George Rigden. But that ethos of giving a proper space each month for a 'fresh', high-quality non-professional comic to shine is at the heart of what we do.

And DIRTY - Except it isn't, really. It's just the usual level of dirtiness. We just say it's dirty because we don't want you to bring a 13-year old and then complain when we give them the collywobbles.

No booking required - Donations on the door.

This time last year, Garrett Millerick’s 'Sunflower' was intended to be a 100% pure comedy show with no agendas, no left, no right and no sad stories - a show named after his favourite Beach Boys album and written to contrast the horror of world events.

But a brutal rollercoaster of events derailed this plan and Garrett was faced with the choice of cancelling the show or finding the path to complete it in a few short weeks.

Sunflower emerged as a testament to the power of comedy to carry us through the whatever life throws at us and became one of the most talked about, critically acclaimed and powerful shows of Edinburgh 2018.

"Hello! My name is Edd Hedges, I'm a comedian and I do storytelling style comedy shows, I've done two before and they both went pretty well. I was invited to do a run at the prestigious SOHO Theatre (fancy) and I got to go to and perform in Australia.

I'm going back to the Fringe with my third hour. It's another story, but this one is a bit different. This show is about a lot of things. It's hard to explain but ultimately it's about two people. A 74 year old man in Essex sitting in his garden in 1999 and a 24 year old, standing on a beach on the other side of the planet in 2018. This show is about 1 second. 1 tiny second where these two people, separated in every imaginable way, were joined together for a moment.

It's going to be funny and good and I really want you to see it."

"Edd Hedges is a joy to watch" - The Scotsman

Duration: 2hrs
Price: £15

STOP PRESS - Snow update: We're very sorry to announce that Nick can't make it here tonight due to thick snow, so we've had to postpone the date. New date is Sunday 5th May. Your tickets will still be valid for this date, or you can apply for a refund via Brown Paper Tickets or See Tickets.

Nick Harper is one the UK's best kept musical secrets. Those who have witnessed the spellbinding, one-man show will tell you this.

A childhood growing up surrounded by the musical prowess of some of the 60's most revered songwriters & musicians, not to mention being son of Roy Harper, along with 20 years of crafting songs & touring the land has spawned a truly one-off, original guitarist & songwriter who stands alone as a UK great, to be cherished & revered.

'58 Fordwych Road' is an all new show that centres around a living room in a small flat in Kilburn, London in the mid 1960s. Then the abode of up-and-coming singer-songwriter Roy Harper & his wife Mocy. The flat was an after hours hang-out for the legends who played at Les Cousins in Soho at the height of the acoustic explosion in swingin' sixties London.

People like Bert Jansch, Davy Graham, John Renbourn, Paul Simon, Marc Bolan, Sandy Denny & others dropped in, to drop out, jam & try new tunes. But, all along, there was someone else there...a toddler, part of the family, inhaling the music & absorbing the vibe; Roy's young son, Nick Harper. Nick later carved out his own career in music, but in this unique & one-off show he plays tribute to the time, the place & to the music that became the centre of everything for him & the rest of this 'family'.

The show will run over two halves. The first will see Nick delve into the deluge of songs he heard direct from the greats when growing up. In the second Nick will trace the journey of how these luminary figures' music evolved & helped shape popular music beyond the sixties & revisit the eternal themes that run from then to now in songs of his own fine repertoire.

"Harper has so much musicianship in him it just leaks out all over the place" - The Times
"He deserves to become a major figure in his own right" - The Guardian
"Dylan for the iPod generation...Betjemen with a guitar" - Guitarist
"My musical discovery of 2016!" - Tom Robinson, BBC 6 Music
"One of the finest guitarists of his generation" - Mojo
"Acoustic Hendrix!" - Guitar Magazine
"Hey, the boy is good!" - Robert Plant
"That boy is too good." - Bert Jansch

Pete Searles - Hey Gringo! A Chile Christmas

British actor and writer Peter Searles, a veteran of stage, screen, and BBC television and radio, gives an intensely dramatic and frequently hilarious account of his journey from the scorching wastes of the Atacama Desert in northern Chile to the shantytowns and smog-laden cities of the south, to a world of forests, lakes, and volcanoes.

Accompanied by oversexed train drivers, a beautiful young revolutionary, out-of-work actors, Marxist priests, fascist police, Chilean Eco-warriors, and Pinochet's neighbors, Searles recounts a journey that turns into a quest for truth and meaning in land torn apart by thirteen years of military dictatorship.

Searles' touring show has won so many rave reviews from major newspapers that it is difficult to decide which ones to quote. But here is a smattering:

"This wonderful and timely one-man play is delivered raconteur-style, direct to the audience. Searles has you in the palm of his hand from the moment he opens his mouth. He is a natural storyteller and talented comedian; everything about the show is understated and spot-on" - The Scotsman

"A bloke stands on a bare stage telling us about a holiday he took in Chile, and an hour and 20 minutes later you are yearning for more. Peter Searles is a riveting storyteller" - The Guardian

"A stand-up storyteller par excellence, Searles could have gone on for another hour and nobody would have batted an eye. He is Britain's answer to Spalding Gray" - Metro

"A stream of polished observations that create what is essentially a well-honed play, nudged to a fresh dramatic level. Searles has struck it rich" - The Stage
