As a performer, Chris has appeared at the Edinburgh Fringe, Glastonbury, Ibiza Rocks, Bestival, Boomtown Fair and The British Musical Comedy Awards and performed shows in countries such as Germany, Australia and Indonesia. In March 2019, he embarked on a 14-date headline tour around the UK with his hour-long powerpoint comedy show, which included multiple sell out shows.

He wrote, hosted and directed The Cool Beans Television Show which was nominated for a British Comedy Award alongside such stalwarts as Horrible Histories and Harry & Paul.  He also regularly presents for BBC Radio Bristol and appears in BBC Sesh short comedy clips, as well as regularly performing hosting events and DJing around the country. Previously he was a presenter on Made in Bristol TV and he also recently appeared on the BBC's flagship Inside Out show, giving presenter Seb Choudhury a hand with his very first stand-up comedy set.

Edinburgh's favourite, award winning, unpredictable comedian is here for outright laughs and you're invited along for the ride! A blistering new show that captures the true spirit of the Fringe.

No politics, no message, just 80 minutes of stand-up comedy and chaos from one of the best in the business...

After 35 years of playing Terry Alderton, Richie Raganoo has decided to take to the stage.

The Australian born Raganoo is, in his own words - “The greatest Character comedian on the planet!”. Along with his other creations like Bob Tap, Raganoo will be on stage in Bath for the first half of the show explaining why he believes Alderton is his worst comedy creation, and why finally he has decided to be himself on stage to show the comedy world his comic prowess!

Although all great things come to an end, to Ranganoo's great disappointment he will be performing as Alderton in the main part of the show. Along with the 'Talking Shoes' and the Drama triangle that are the 'Voices'.

Strap in folks...

The journey of parenthood is a magical and maddening one, so what better way to cope with it than through stand-up comedy! AFTERMIRTH is an adult comedy club that you can bring your baby to.

Each week we’ll have 3 top circuit comedians delivering their usual club routines so the material is mature and sweary with the odd birth story flash-back…. The only difference is it’s during the day. Babies under 18 months are welcome, but please don’t bring older toddlers because they tend to heckle!

This special afternoon gig has reduced amplification and a dimmed room so no one will notice those red eyes from sleepless nights. You’re encouraged to bottle, breast or Haribo feed and you can walk about or shake Mittens the Special Rabbit in order to soothe your offspring and no one will moan or mutter if your little one cries or screams. The gig is also open to parents, Aunts, Uncles, Grans, carers, in fact anyone who needs some afternoon comedy and doesn’t mind some cute babies in attendance.

Off the back of her successful 2019 Edinburgh 'Crusade' run, Esther is bringing her work in progress for her second Edinburgh show.

Esther's first show tackled the racism of the alt right and sexism of religious extremists. Now she wants to look closer at the stereotypes of the Arab and Muslim man. How has the middle east and sexism been united into one stereotype? This doesn't match what she saw in the Arab Muslim men in her family...so where have these stereotypes come from? Is there truth in them? Esther just can't see that the Middle East and religion equals sexism...she reminisces over her upbringing in the 90's...is Britain truly guilt free when it comes to sexism? It makes her want to scream "If you are a sexist then you ain't no Muslim and you ain't geeza bruv!"

“Esther Manito: Lebanese British woman, wife, mother, incredible comedian” ****1/2 Edfest Magazine

"Ms Manito is a confident comic with a likeability factor which can do her no harm. Her stage presence and delivery enhance her well written material and it is easy to see why she is doing so well, both nationally and internationally" ****One4Review

The show that was going to be about feminism, but is now going to be about her dog.

As seen on BBC3, All4, Comedy Central and ITV2, Lily asks you to join her on her journey from cheerleader, to feminist, to dog lover. Female comedians are often criticised for just talking about their Vaginas, which is offensive, but in Lily's case 100% true and now she has a dog, who has one too.

Smut covers all the trials and tribulations that come with being a female human and a female dog. Like turning 30 only to discover that apparently your vagina gets bigger with age rather than usage, how to deal with your dogs cystitis, and what happens when your boyfriend has to help you birth your own menstrual cup... they are still together now by the way, if anything, it has brought them closer. No animals were harmed in the process FYI.

Leicester Square New Comedian of the Year 3rd Place, Komedia New Act FINALIST, Funny Women FINALIST, Max Turner FIANLIST and Pleasance Reserve Comedian 2019 Lily is so excited to be bringing her unique brand of comedy to the masses.

"Great, unique material" - The Stand

"dry, feminist wit" - Evening Standard

"bulletproof confidence...a routine that called to mind Jo Brand" - Steve Bennett, Chortle

"Funny, original and, crucially, entirely unpredictable" ***** Broadway Baby

"Feminism doesn't get sexier than this" ***** View From The Gods

Spaniel-in-human-form, Louise Leigh is a "polished, sparky performer able to energise a room...hilarious" (****The Wee Review) and "super mature at home, buoyant in the field" (Dogcrunch.com). But can she navigate the undergrowth of midlife without tripping over her spaniel's ears? And can she still be adorable at 48?

"Louise Leigh is one of the most original and promising new acts to come out of the South West Comedy scene... Consistently funny and unafraid to experiment...Highly recommended" - Wil Hodgson

"Great confidence, great performance, great jokes!" Gary Delaney

Since finally starting the career in comedy she had been putting off since she was seventeen, Louise has been making more and more people laugh, mostly in the West of the UK. This is her second hour-long show and it's mostly about what happens when you give yourself permission to be an idiot, when you're supposed to be growing up. It's a love letter to her inner spaniel...and to actual spaniels.

If you like laughing, dogs, laughing at dogs (never do this, they look sad) and mucking about, you'll have a great time with Louise.

Audience reviews of Louise:
"Great night out! Hilarious, haven't laughed so much in ages"
"This woman is the comedian I never knew I needed! Proper funny, proper refreshing, proper job"
"Hilarious, touching, moving, laugh-out-loud-therapy-for-the-soul. Lou's carefully observed humour balances kind with cutting and takes reflective introspection and turns it into energetic, crazy, joyful playful performance. Go see her!"

A tribute to the music and madness of Neil Innes, performed by the finest daft musicians in the South West, with some very special guests lined up to perform his medley of hit – and more!

Bath Comedy Festival's annual Bath Plug Award for comedy greatness was first awarded in 2015 to our beloved patron, Python genius Terry Jones, and late last year his old friend Neil Innes – comedy maestro, Bonzo, Rutle, and all-round King of the Philosopher-Clowns – was asked if he'd be keen to pick one up too. He expressed a keenness to return to Bath, where he's performed so many times over the year – but then, two days before the start of the 2020s, Neil quickly collapsed and died, at the age of 75.

Therefore, this year we present the first posthumous Bath Plug Award. All money raised will go toward refunding the losses from PledgeMusic's failure to release Innes' last album, 'Nearly Really' – which can now thankfully be bought from neilinnes.media.

Singalongs encouraged – come along, and really express yourself!

Simon Munnery - Alan Parker Urban Warrior Farewell Tour

Date: Thursday 9th April, 2020
Venue: Rondo Theatre
Doors: 7.30pm for 8.00pm show
Price: £14

click to book online

POSTPONED

Multi award-winning comedian Simon Munnery reprises his notorious alter ego, the bedsit anarchist Alan Parker Urban Warrior. Once the most radical, now the only radical, Alan returns with the old gold, the old truths, and some new truths (based on the old truths).

For over 35 years, Munnery has performed around the world, experimenting with and innovating the stand-up form. In the 1990s, his Alan Parker: Urban Warrior character took the comedy circuit by storm, garnering Munnery his own BBC Radio 1 series, which Time Out London called ‘the funniest thing on Radio One’ and a residency on ITV’s Saturday Live. 1996 saw him collaborate with Graham Linehan and Stewart Lee for BBC2 show, London Shouting, in his Alan Parker guise, and the character also become a regular contributor to NME magazine.

"Gloriously inept radical anorak." The Times
"Marx, Engles and Sid Vicious would all have died laughing." The Guardian
"Munnery’s parody of a punk rock anarcho snowflake, hand drawn with real love for its subject, returns to a world worse than any he could have imagined in his home decade of the 1980s." Stewart Lee

Simon Munnery is a British Comedy Award nominee, Perrier Award nominee, Sony Radio Award winner and Chortle Award winner. He’s most recently appeared in C4’s acclaimed Flowers, and will soon be seen in Will Sharpe’s Louis Wain movie biopic, co-starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Claire Foy.

Fresh from a sell-out run at The New Zealand International Comedy Festival, BBC and Comedy Store regular Alistair Barrie previews his new Edinburgh show. As the father of a son, how does one man explain to another man how men work?

After sold out runs of his last show 'The InternationAl' in Melbourne, Edinburgh and the 2019 New Zealand Comedy Festival, Alistair Barrie returned to the UK, where his wife gave birth to their second child, a son.

Meanwhile, another man baby was in The White House, Britain would soon install his mini-me in Downing Street, and 'strong men' were in charge of governments across the globe.

Alistair did not pay too much attention as his life was a blur of nappies, laundry and snot, conducted in an atmosphere of exhaustion and marital tension threatening to break out into open hostility at any moment.

His two year old-daughter was already furious to discover the world didn't revolve around her, a realisation which had been bothering Alistair for decades. As the year progressed, he also began to wonder how he could teach his son what it was to be a man in a world ruled by men. The result is Manstrong, the guide to parenting that Dr Spock never got around to writing, as Alistair attempts to explain everything to his son, his daughter, and most of all, himself.

Alistair Barrie is a frequent guest on BBC Scotland's 'Breaking the News, Radio 4's 'Broadcasting House' and Radio 5 Live's 'Question Time Extra Time'. A regular with The Comedy Store's weekly topical show 'The Edge', he has headlined shows in over forty countries and twice been nominated for best show at The Edinburgh Fringe.

Bath Comedy Festival favourite (it says here) Neil McFarlane returns to spout some of the nonsense which has entered his brain via his various sensory organs over the last wee while.

Which is a slightly roundabout way of saying he's not entirely sure what the show's about or what precise verbiage is likely to tumble from his lips.

But Neil fervently hopes, and is quietly confident, that it will make the other people in the room laugh. You should come be one of them and see if he's right.

Free entry, negotiable exit. He's been working out a bit he's still quite easy to get past and outrun.

Fitz of Giggles is one of the South West's premier comedy event organisers and are delighted to be bringing a superb one off show to the Bath Comedy Festival.

Hosted by former Bath resident Daniel FitzHenry (or Fitz - see what he did there?), this show is an opportunity to see three of our favourite acts from the circuit.

Neil McFarlane is no stranger to the Bath Comedy Festival and is a wonderfully interesting fellow, as well as being a successful actor and a hilarious comedian.

Neil will be joined on the evening by the fantastic Louise Leigh, one of the South West's brightest rising stars. Louise is preparing for her debut Edinburgh hour and we are so pleased she will be joining us for this show!

As well as this, we have the brilliant Mike Cox, who is currently on tour as support for Clinton Baptiste. Mike has taken the comedy world by storm since starting in 2011 and has worked with some of the best acts in the UK. He is even going to be gigging with a certain Bill Bailey - who of course you may have seen already this festival!

Holding the evening together is Fitz, a sought after comedian and compère who lived in Bath for 11 years until recently & is incredibly proud to be involved with the festival once again.

The classic BBC radio series returns...on stage... Roll up, Roll Up! Angus Prune OBE is back, with the Custard Pie of Radio Comedy.

Performed on stage in classic radio comedy style with live music and sound effects, The OFFSTAGE Theatre Group recreates the anarchic and deliciously surreal cult comedy show that laid waste to BBC Radio in the 1960s and 1970s.

Following on from their critically-acclaimed first tour, this second Greatest Hits compilation of original material and songs by Graeme Garden and Bill Oddie is a knockabout show celebrating the radio series that gave birth to The Goodies and Monty Python's Flying Circus - not to mention I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue.

Stand by for wicked parodies, glorious puns and silly ditties. It's full-frontal radio, live on stage - with the unmistakeable strains of the Angus Prune Tune (and the unavoidable smells of sing-a-long-a-gibbon-stuffing).

This is a chance to meet - or happily catch up with - much-loved characters first created by Tim Brooke-Taylor, John Cleese, Graeme Garden, Sir David Hatch, Jo Kendall and Bill Oddie. There will be a cameo from Tim Brooke-Taylor, one of the original cast members, at this performance.

Produced, Directed & Adapted by Barnaby Eaton-Jones
Featuring Hannah Boydell, Barnaby Eaton-Jones, Ben Perkins and The Farrington Four (Andrew Farrington, Andy Rushton, Cath Thomas and Paul Wood).

A show about yoga and empathy. Or lack of it.

I know many of us roll our eyes when people send social media 'hugs', but there probably aren't quite so many who push fingers onto drawing pins in pockets so they can conjure up the required face-work during tearful farewells.

This is me. And I'm getting worse. I recently sat through a friend's tale of a painful break-up and the best suggestion I could offer was 'make that half as long, ditch the boring bit about his feet...beef up the ending, maybe throw in an abortion'.

It's clearly time for self-improvement, and in INFLEXIBLE I chart the drip-drip-drip depletion of my empathy, and my subsequent attempts to reconnect with a better me through the wonders of Yoga...the 20 year old Sally, the one who had all the time in the world for joy-sapping wallowers.

Join Pete Searles on the second leg of HEY GRINGO! his internationally acclaimed trilogy.

A bar in Cuzco...in the company of a motley crew of world travellers and drifters, a plot is hatched over a game of darts to pop over the border to seek a fabled cave - rumoured to hold the last of the cosmic secrets. A journey across Bolivia: Lawless cities, seedy bars, prisons, jungle nightclubs, drug-enforcement agents, gun-toting Nazis, a Narco kingpin, giant tarantulas and a marriage-minded female police officer. An odyssey that leads finally to a lost world in remotest Amazonia and the shadow of Cerro Amboro - the great sacred mountain shrouded in mystery and myth.

"Completely captivated the audience. With this mixture of traveller's tales and raw stand-up comedy, spiced with a pinch of mime, Searles may have created a whole new genre of theatre... A natural raconteur of sharp wit." - Bermuda Gazette

"Walking, talking travelogues are a great British tradition, be it Michael Palin on TV or David Hare on stage, and Peter Searles' tale of his Latin American exploits is no exception. Like Indiana Jones on speed, he borders on slapstick as he dances with drunken Indians or demonstrates in Spanish how to catch and cook a tarantula." - The Guardian

Doug Stanhope - Diminishing Returns

Date: Thursday 22nd October, 2020
Venue: Bath Pavilion
Doors: 7.00pm for 8.00pm show
Duration: ~2hrs
Price: £35

click to book online

Caustic social commentary, outlandish first-person narratives, graphic sex and perversion, sometimes within the same sentence.

Fueled by equal amounts of anger, outrage and alcohol, Stanhope rails against western civilization's slide into apathy and stupidity, always on the edge of implosion yet fully in control and never afraid to risk pissing off his audiences.

In a field crowded with conformists and copycats, Stanhope is a genuinely original comic voice, albeit a gleefully vulgar one. "A visionary douchebag" says The Times. Raw, agitated and unflinching, he holds forth on all manner of major injustices and petty annoyances, excoriating himself as much as any of his other targets. But Stanhope's venomous bile is matched by his passion and conviction, as well as a fierce intellect that gives his work a level of substance and subtlety that belies his snarling exterior. His comedy is as corrosive as it is hilarious, and his righteous self-immolation is exhilarating and life-affirming in its cathartic honesty.

"Stanhope shocks you with the virulence of his lucidity; he shocks you into realising how transparent the confidence trick of western propaganda can be made to seem. What he has in abundance is the charm, don't-give-a-damn swagger and aggressive intelligence that make for important, exciting comedy" - The Guardian

"Doug Stanhope might be the most important standup working today" - Ricky Gervais

As seen on BBC TV's Newswipe with Charlie Brooker.
